The gardens of the castle which were developed during the 13th century have an original Monk’s Garden, a Secret Garden, a White Border and a Wildflower Meadow There is also the Wood of Goodwill to explore and a Rose Arbour. The Healing Herb garden is situated near the castle.

The rooms of the castle that are open to the public are the main state rooms and the bedrooms so familiar from “Downtown Abbey”.

The old staff quarters and cellars now house the Egyptian Exhibition, celebrating the 5th Earl of Carnarvon’s discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
