The gardens of the castle which were developed during the 13th century have an original Monk’s Garden, a Secret Garden, a White Border and a Wildflower Meadow There is also the Wood of Goodwill to explore and a Rose Arbour. The Healing Herb garden is situated near the castle.
The rooms of the castle that are open to the public are the main state rooms and the bedrooms so familiar from “Downtown Abbey”.
The old staff quarters and cellars now house the Egyptian Exhibition, celebrating the 5th Earl of Carnarvon’s discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
If you have mobility issues:
Castle and Exhibition: There are stairs to bedrooms no lift. Photo albums of bedrooms are available in the saloon. There is a step free access to the Egyptian Exhibition, just ask guide who will direct you.
Gardens: Some parts of the gardens have gravel paths. The gardens were built on a valley so go down and up a hill. There are seats around the garden for visitors to use. Manual wheelchairs can be reserved if required.
Tea Room: Serving sandwiches and cakes. They provide gluten free options on request, but do not have any vegan options.
Picnics are not allowed

Once your place(s) have been reserved
Reservations are held for 48 hours if paying by BACS, or until the next post if paying by cheque. After this time, unconfirmed places may need to be released.
We will email you to confirm receipt of payment.
