A new community project for local young people – Grow, Cook, Eat with Emsworth Youth – has recently been shortlisted for the Tesco Fruit & Veg Grant and will take part in the blue token customer vote in local Tesco stores. As the project will be working with Emsworth Community Garden, I thought it would be of particular interest to EHS members.
The project has been developed through the Emsworth Residents’ Forum Youth Working Party, and as a member of this group I’ve been involved in putting it together.
It will provide cooking courses to help local young people plan and prepare healthy meals themselves and grow in confidence. We’ll work in partnership with Emsworth Community Garden, using seasonal produce from the garden wherever possible, helping young people understand where their food comes from. Local volunteers will also share their skills and experience, bringing generations together through cooking and food.
The Tesco Fruit & Veg Grant is decided by the blue token customer vote, which will determine whether the project receives a grant of £500, £1,000 or £1,500, so every vote helps support Emsworth’s young people.
Voting takes place from 3 August until the end of November in Tesco Emsworth, Southbourne, Havant Extra and the stores listed below. You can collect one blue token per visit. We’d really appreciate it if you could place your token in the Grow, Cook, Eat with Emsworth Youth voting box.
Thank you for your support.
